Feminist Book Club: The Turner House by Angela Flournoy

Join us at the Astoria Bookshop for our new Feminist Mosaic Reading Group. Each month we’ll read a book and examine it through the lens of modern feminism. For July we will be discussing The Turner House by Angela Flournoy. All women and allies, teens and up, are welcome to join this group.

Over the course of the series, we’ll read books from a variety of women writers and use them as a springboard to explore a wide range of women’s issues, including reproductive rights, equity in the workplace and school, intersectional feminism, and body image and self-care.

A New York Times Notable Book of 2016, The Turner House is a striking examination of the price we pay for our dreams, and the ways in which our families bring us home.
